LG Splendor: Is this a splendid development for LG?

Design

The LG Splendor is a nice looking, lightweight smart phone. It’s dimensions are 4.92 inches tall, 2.64 inches wide, 0.34 inches thick, and weighs in at 4.48 ounces. The design features few physical buttons with just a power button and volume rocker. Te exterior also features a 3.5mm headphone jack, Micro-USB charging port, and a micro-SD slot for expandable memory. The Splendor has a 4.3 inch IPS display that has a crisp and sharp picture with good colors and a resolution of 800×480 pixels.

Hardware, Software, and Performance

The LG Splendor runs on Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. It’s is the second most recent version of Android available on the market today. This operating system works well with LG’s Optimus 3.0 user interface. These combined with the 1GHz central processing unit gives the Splendor decent performance. The Splendor supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G networks. The call quality is good, but its speakerphones performance was poor. The 1,700mAh battery is removable and supports nine hours of life.

Features and Apps

Google preloads the LG Splendor with their usual apps like Gmail, Chrome, Search, Google+, Latitude, Play Store, Messenger, Maps with Navigation, and YouTube. Other regular features include alarm clock, memo pad, calendar, calculator and more. The Splendor can also act as a mobile hotspot and power saver module. Third party and other apps preload on the Splendor are Amazon Kindle, shop, and MP3, App Store, IMDb, Zappos, Audible, Polaris Office, SmartShare, Tone Room, Daily perks, games, QuickMemo, Facebook, and Twitter.

The Splendor has a 5MP rear facing camera with features like autofocus, touch focus, flash, 15x digital zoom, face tracking, geo tracking, timer, continuous shot, panorama. It also has 6 scene modes, 5 image settings, 5 white balances, 4 color effects, and the ability to voice command taking photos. The camera can record in 720p HD Video with many of the same effects the regular camera has. The front facing camera on the Splendor can also utilize many of the same features for taking self photos and videos, but the image quality is poorer than the rear facing camera.

Pros

The LG Splendor runs on a recent version of Android, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. It has good performance speed with the 1GHz central processing unit. it also has a nice, compact design.

Cons

The LG Splendor runs on 3G speeds rather than the lightning fast 4G LTE speeds. The Splendor’s speakerphone has poor performance and the camera quality could be improved.
