The Nikon D3300 from the D3000 series was launched this year at the CES 2014 and was the first camera to get the collapsible 18-55 mm lens in the kit. The lens is 30% smaller and 25% lighter than the previous kit lenses and like the Nikon D3300, the D5500 might too get shipped with the collapsible 18-55 mm kit lens. The collapsible lens is much more portable than other ones because it is a lot more shorter than the regular ones.

Nikon D5500 Review:

The Nikon D5300 was the first Nikon DSLR to have an in-built Wi-Fi and GPS and the Nikon D5500 is expected to give you more controls from a smart phone over the camera. The Nikon D5500 is also expected an upgrade over the inactive performance of its 11 point auto focusing sensor, wait for the Nikon D5500 review to know the confirmed specs.

Canon has been using a hybrid CMOS AF II sensor for auto-focus which is really fast. If Nikon do adopt for the same then that do be great.

Being a beginner DSLR camera, the camera has an in-built guide mode to help you understand all the features without an expert guidance. The camera might also have the EXPEED 4 image processor with an ISO range of about 100 to 12800 which is expandable up to 25600. A burst mode of 5 frames per second and Full HD video recording at 60 frames per second along with auto-focusing are also expected.
The current choices in the effects mode of the Nikon D5000 series are very limited and an upgrade for them would really be great. If the D5500 comes will all these features then Nikon will definitely do well the next year and give a tough competition to Canon. There would be a wide-range of Nikon D5500 lenses like the same for D5300 and the D3300. Even thought the expectation are really high but most of the features are going to be similar to the Nikon’s existing model, the D5300; because both the D5300 and the D5500 are for the advanced beginners.
