3 Apps for a Student Researchers

If you are currently a student conducting research, or if you’re a professional who works in any research capacity, you know from first-hand experience how tough the whole process can be. From conceptualizing your research paper, to digging up the facts, to putting it all together coherently, research is a slog at best. Thanks to the power of technology, however, you can make the hardest parts about research a little bit easier. Here are my all-time favorite apps when it comes to research time.

EverNote

Gathering information is probably the toughest part about conducting research. Evernote is the perfect app to help you get organized. The app is so incredibly versatile that it can be somewhat difficult to explain all that it can do. Basically, Evernote allows you to take notes of any kind—whether they are hand-written, typed, photographed or audio recorded. You can then tag all your notes into an organized, searchable database. Evernote’s Web Clipper function allows you to clip relevant portions of web pages so that you don’t have to go back and look through an entire website. For more information on using Evernote for research, check this Evernote blog article out.

Infomine

Infomine is very much like Google, except that search results are exclusively academic. Infomine allows you to easily find scholarly articles, journals, databases, electronic books, archives, library card catalogues, and more. While not everything that turns up on Infomine is free, the app points you to various resources that can be found free of charge at your local library or university.

Papers

Since finding out about Papers, my research has literally never been the same. Papers acts as a repository of research articles that you can use as you take notes, cite sources, browse, read, and save. Everything you view on papers can be saved for later viewing. It’s all stored into a personal library that’s as easy to search through as looking through your songs and albums on iTunes.

While I’ve tried various different apps to aid me when I’m researching information for work or for my freelance writing projects, these are the three that have substantively changed the ease with which I can get the job done. If you’re currently doing a research paper, and if you need help with your research paper? You can try domyresearchpaper.com. Of course, there are many other apps out there that can help you in a similar capacity, but I would suggest checking these ones out first. You’d be amazed at what a difference it makes in terms of the time you spend on any given research project. Good luck!
